There was a recent member that lost their ACME account due to spamming via emails. I was disheartened a bit by this because there are many that honestly do not understand what spamming is, nor do they realize that they are even spamming at all. Although, there is already a topic on CanSpam here at the forum what I am going to touch on is even if you do not know or are unsure of whether or not you might be spamming, here are some tips to that will assist you so that you are not considered a spammer with your APS business. The ideal thing with this or any business is to not use your affiliate links directly. What this means is, create a free blog to cover the APS business that contains your affiliate links. Or if you are a bit more advanced, host your own blog or website to do this. By creating a blog/website you are doing several things, providing content for people to read, branding yourself and your blog/site will get indexed by Google, Yahoo, MsN etc. (This creates organic traffic) Affiliate links directly do not get indexed and your marketing efforts are truly wasted. Okay, having said the above I will address the real issue here, emails! When I receive the hundreds of emails in my inbox everyday I do not have the right to email them back with an opportunity . I do the exact same thing that I do in social marketing, I reply if the email content warrants a reply (very few do) and I put all my information within my signature. Do NOT PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS! I do this even if I am replying to their email to be removed from their list! DO NOT USE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS FOR ANY MAILINGS TO LEADS EVEN IF THEY ARE PURCHASED LEADS! The quickest way to be accused of spamming is using your personal email account for mailing to LEADS OR PURCHASED LEADS. If you have leads then use an autoresponder in which they must OPT IN to your campaign. The key to this is having the opt in email written in such a way as to entice your leads to want more by clicking that confirmation link! DO NOT PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS in the this confirmation email! NEVER PUT AN AFFILIATE LINK OR ANY LINK OTHER THAN THE CONFIRMATION LINK WITHIN THIS OPT IN EMAIL! This method for leads to opt in has worked extremely well for me. Creating the right content in that confirmation email is trial and error but do not use the generic confirmation that comes with the autoresponder, IT NEVER WORKS! The #1 Rule to prevent “spamvertising”: If you are in doubt, throw it out! Simply Don't do it! Your very best bet if you are still unsure of any aspect of emailing, ask the question here at the forum first! To Your APS Business Success! Amy
